The Beatles

I enjoy the band The Beatles. This band is one of my favourites because I like the way they lay out their songs, lyrics, and the way they act on stage. The song that I enjoy the most is Strawberry Fields Forever, I like the way that they made the music sound really calm and soothing, and then the lyrics are just wacky when you think about them. 'let me take you down, cause I'm going to Strawberry Fields. Nothing is real. And nothing to get hung about.' that specific part of the song drew me in for some reason, I found the song mystifying, and I wanted to hear more. The boys in the band have this certain look to them, meaning, well, they all kind of look the same, but they don't at the same time, y'know?
They all have bowl cut-like hair styles, but have different facial structures, naturally. They have this sort of laid back, life is good feel to their music and how they act on stage. They sing their songs with this dreamy mood to them that makes people feel happy.
A lot of their songs have to do with love, and don't get me wrong, they do a fantastic job of it, but I think a lot of their fans would like to see a little bit of a mix in their songs, not just love songs. Which made me happy when I saw that they started making songs that just made you feel happy, they weren't love songs exactly, but songs that didn't make sense at all, and made sense at the same time. 'I am the walrus' is a song of which doesn;t really make sense when you listen to it. Then you watch the video, and then it really doesn't make sense. It feels like you're on some sort of acid trip, which is pretty cool, and some people enjoy it, evidently. I think this band has amazing talent in singing and songwriting, and I will always listen to their songs.

The Big Lebowski

The Big Lebowski is a good movie, in my opinion, and the actors in it certainly portrayed their characters very well. I would definetely not say that The Dude is a heroic figure because I really don't see him doing anything heroic. The Dude interacts with the world around him in a way that most people just don't. He acts like everything is a joy ride, and he is just really relaxed about everything. I've observed his behaviour, and it seems as though when faced with a hard decision or he is losing an argument, he just puts his sunglasses on.
The language that is used in this film in offensive, no doubt, but I think that it may be a tad offensive to some viewers. This may be the characters' normal every day dialogue, but it may offend a lot of people without intending to. They use the 'f' shot every ten seconds, if not less.
The rating for this movie is AA14, yes I do believe that this rating is appropriate because it does contain a lot of offensive language; Walter says a lot of things that really offend some people, such as making fun of Nazis. I'm just sayin'. There is a lot of cursing in the movie as well, as I've stated before, the 'f' shot is used every ten seconds.

Citizen Kane

Citizen Kane Review

I think that this movie was alright, I didn’t really think that it deserves the title of ‘Best Movie’ because I didn’t like some of the acting. Sure, some of the acting was good, but a lot of the actors, such as Susan Alexander. She was just whiny, but I suppose that’s what the directors were aiming towards. I think her voice was a little too shrill, but once again, maybe that’s what they meant to do.
Charles Foster Kane was a pretty good actor, and I think that he portrayed his character very well. He was supposed to be someone who was never loved, and all he ever wanted to do was to be loved by someone. And when he came across Susan, he had an affair with her, while he was married to his wife. I think he did this because his wife wasn’t good for him. She didn’t love him the way he wanted to be loved. The love that she had for him I think was forced. They had a son, and I’m lead to believe that their son was the only thing that was keeping them together. But when his wife found out about his affair with Susan, they ended things.
Kane thought that everything was going good, in my opinion, and by good, I mean the only thing he wanted out of that relationship with Susan was to be loved by her; and I think she really did love him at first, until she found out that he was greedy and selfish and didn’t really care about anyone other than himself. She claimed he never gave her anything, which he didn’t, so I suppose she’s right about that one.
Charles Kane acted very well when he was displaying his anger and rage towards Susan leaving. He realized that he had lost everything; the only person that he thought would ever love him left him. He felt that he had nothing else to live for, because he believed that without Susan, things would never be the same. I do believe that he was in love with her, but not for the right reasons. I think that he was only leading himself to believe that he was in love with her so that he had someone to love him, as I’ve stated above. After Susan left, he realized that nobody else would ever love him, so he took his life.
The whole ‘Rosebud’ thing was really mysterious, and I think it added a lot of originality to the movie, because it kept people guessing until the very end, when we finally find out what Rosebud was, which was his sled that he had when he got taken away when he was little. I think that he never really let go of the fact that he was taken away from his mother, and even though he knows that it was for the best, he probably never wanted to leave. I don’t think that he cared much about money, and all he wanted was love, and if he would have stayed with his mother, I think that he would have been loved more than he ended up being.
My overall opinion of this movie was that it was very well done, yes there may have been some stuff that they could have done to make it better, but I just haven’t noticed that yet.
It’s got my vote.

Media

I believe that media is semi-important in my life. The reason for this is because I don't really rely on it completely, but I do use it often. The media I find that is important would be watching the news, to see what is going on in today's world, and the weather. I do watch Much Music, simply because I just like having the T.V. on in my room, I rarely pay any attention to it.
The media isn't really something that I feel passionate about, but if I would have to choose some part of the media to be passionate about, I would choose video games, simply because I love video games so much. I play them all the time, and sometimes a little bit too much, honestly. I would call it more of an addiction rather than something I am passionate about, haha.
Modern culture? Well, my thoughts on modern culture is that I think it's stupid and useless. I don't think that it's worth my time to be watching things on T.V. about celebrities and what's going on in their lives, I have my own life to worry about. And not to mention, some of the things they mention on their blogs are utterly ridiculous and stupid. But of course, this is just my opinion.

How do you feel about the way teenagers are portrayed in the media?
Well, this is a touchy subject to talk to me about, considering I have a whole load of opinions about it. I think, personally, that the teenagers on the shows that we watch on T.V. are totally the opposite to the people in real life. Their hair is always perfect, their make-up always looks amazing, and they have the perfect lives every teenager out there dreams for. The media in terms of teenagers on T.V. is making teenagers feel bad about themselves. They think they have to look and act the way the kids on T.V. do, dress the way they do, eat exactly what they do, or not eat at all, and I think it is a big issue. A good example of pressure being put on teens by the media and the characters in the T.V. shows would be the show The Hills. The girls on this show are always perfect, they're pretty, they have everything going for them, nice clothes, the latest technology, cool phones. They make the teenagers in real life think they need to have everything they do just to fit in and such, whereas, it's totally mindless.
Well, those are my opinions on this subject, thanks for reading :]
